A sunny circular walk above Ponta do Sol, ending under a waterfall.
Two connected levadas above Ponta do Sol make a circuit of roughly 8 km through terraced farmland and banana slopes, with a tunnel and a waterfall you can walk behind.
Sun-coast walking
Unlike the forest levadas, this one is open and warm, with views down to the sea for much of its length. That makes it a good choice on a day when the north is under cloud.
The Moinho section includes a long unlit tunnel and a waterfall crossing where you will get wet. Both are part of the appeal.
