A cantilevered platform hanging over the north coast near Faial.
A small, free viewpoint above the sea on the road between Faial and Santana, with a metal walkway that projects out over the drop and a view back to the Penha de Águia rock.
Why stop
It takes five minutes and gives you the north coast at its most dramatic: black cliffs, Atlantic swell and the flat-topped Penha de Águia (Eagle Rock) rising between Faial and Porto da Cruz.
Because it sits on a bend of the old coast road, most tour buses drive past it. Late afternoon light on the rock is the best of the day.
